For show horse and dressage, you have the choice of wearing a long or short sleeve shirt with either a stock or tie and are required to wear a jacket. The decision regarding which shirt is typically based on the level of show and the type of class, which we will cover more below.
Conversely, in show jumping you are required to wear a long or short sleeved shirt and your shirt must have a predominately white collar. Additionally, long-sleeved shirts must have white cuffs. Jackets without a collar are allowed providing the shirt collar and tie are visible when the jacket is closed.
If you choose to not wear a jacket, you must wear a shirt with either long or short sleeves - no sleeveless shirts or tanks are permitted.

Typically, a stock shirt is preferred in dressage at all levels and in the show ring at higher level events such as Horse of the Year and Royal Shows.
Traditionally, a stock has been reserved for adult riders, however it is now common place for all ages.
